Leather pyrography is the art of decorating natural leather by applying controlled heat to create permanent designs, patterns, and textures.
Leather carving is the craft of cutting into the surface of damp leather and using metal tools to create three-dimensional, textured designs. It works only on full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather, which absorbs water and holds a carved shape.
A finish is then added to keep them scratch and scuff resistant and prevents dye rub-off.
